SALUTEMUS provided musicians for this year's Street Fayre in Nunney on Saturday 3rd August. Music in front of the castle was provided by Frome Swing Band and then, later, Fromage en Feu (who played to great acclaim in the village in May). Joel Grainger wandered round the village busking on violin. An amazing sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xGqL5nbBm4&feature=share
The day started well - sunny and crowded - but round about 2pm all that changed and the streets were awash with torrents of rainwater. Fromage retreated to the safety of The George and kept spirits up!Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738737585372658740noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634207335711169806.post-25258810492029358572013-08-05T14:55:00.001+01:002013-08-05T14:56:05.194+01:00Raise The Roof - 15th Concert

The Selwood Foundation held a Spring party in Nunney on Sunday 7th April to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Knights Hospitaller, also known as the Order of Malta and continuing the Arthurian theme of previous events. SALUTEMUS provided musicians for the Holburne Museum's reception, held in the grounds of Ammerdown House in July. After weeks of rain the clouds parted and the sun shone in a blue sky. Members of the Al Cubbin Quartet featuring Liz Lipscombe on jazz violin provided some smooth and relaxing music as guests ambled round the wonderful gardens.
As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Longleat House, SALUTEMUS provided singers from Bath's amazing chamber choir Noctis to provide entertainment throughout the four days.
Suitably garbed, they were part of the retinue of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I as they made their progress around the estate.

'Greensleeves' and 'Pastime with good company' are reputed to have been composed by Henry VIII himself. Some modern scholars are not convinced, but understandably no-one voiced any doubts at the time. In any case he seemed to take delight in hearing such moving renditions of his work as he mingled with the Longleat crowds. Great fun and a great atmosphere - a wonderful Jubilee celebration.Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738737585372658740noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634207335711169806.post-67423270292403661612012-08-11T10:33:00.000+01:002012-08-11T10:34:32.305+01:00RAISE THE ROOF!

Adam Sealey (violin), David Ellery (cello) and Paul Dowbekin (piano) provided an evening of Palm Court trios. SALUTEMUS provided an eclectic mix of Hunting Songs, dances and Christmas carols for the Selwood Foundation Christmas party at Manor House stables in Nunney.

All the hunting songs and dances were specially arranged for the event from manuscripts in the British Library and included a song that had been sung by T R Snow, 'an old man of Exeter in deep decline'. The singers were accompanied by a band of violin, clarinet and bassoon adding a charming rustic charm to the event. A cup of venison stew and a glass of warm mulled cider together with the traditional lettuce and marmite sandwiches all made for a very pleasant glimpse into the past.Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738737585372658740noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634207335711169806.post-80234534348569719752011-11-02T15:31:00.000+00:002011-11-02T15:31:32.717+00:00Music cut-backsIF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN MUSIC MAKING look at the link concerning cut-backs in music libraries. SALUTEMUS provided a string quartet and piano for a beautiful, summery wedding in the grounds of Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire. We provided Mozart in E flat Major; Larmer Tree provided some free-range peacocks in a variety of keys (but NOT in E flat!).
The bride walked across the lawns to a special arrangement of Mozart's Adagio from the 'Serenade for 13 wind instruments' - majestic, calm and exquisite. The music was arranged by SALUTEMUS for the bride and groom.
The ceremony also included the first performance of a piece composed for the couple by Andy Keenan.
A very tasteful and civilised affair in a magnificent setting. The service was organised by Barker and Courtiers Funeral Directors and was an opportunity for anyone who has suffered a loss to spent a short time in thought and reflection. The hymns, readings and prayers were specially chosen to offer some comfort at a difficult and often bewildering time.
The choir sang special arrangements of the hymns and also three anthems during the service.Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738737585372658740noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634207335711169806.post-85924111450545251032011-09-06T09:54:00.003+01:002011-10-05T07:25:51.801+01:00Salutemus Wedding Featured in Martha Stewart Weddingshttp://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/heather-and-neal#slide_24
We looked after all the music for the wedding of Heather Banta and Neal Callow last November. Their wedding is to feature in Martha Stewart Weddings Travel Issue due out on 3rd October 2011.

The service took place in St Andrew’s church, Mells and the reception was held afterwards at Babington House.

Music for the service was provided by a string quartet. They were joined by Neal’s aunt on the organ for the recessional, a stunning arrangement made specially by SALUTEMUS for Heather and Neal.

A piano and bass duo kept the guests entertained when they arrived at Babington House for the reception.
This is their fifth visit to the UK and forms part of a strong link between SALUTEMUS and a varied group of musicians from Rome and the surrounding area.

They broke off from rehearsals for their evening recital in Stourton church to play in the magnificent National Trust property Stourhead.

Their programme of 18th century Italian pieces for recorder and harpsichord by Sammartini, Corelli and Mancini charmed the many visitors to the house. The Picture Gallery was added to the original house by Sir Richard Colt Hoare to house some of the pictures that he had collected on visits to Italy as part of his ‘Grand Tour’ making the choice of music particularly appropriate.

SALUTEMUS hopes to build on this link for future events with the National Trust.Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11738737585372658740noreply@blogger.com0
