JUBILEE MADRIGALS AT LONGLEAT

As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at Longleat House, SALUTEMUS provided singers from Bath's amazing chamber choir Noctis to provide entertainment throughout the four days.
Suitably garbed, they were part of the retinue of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I as they made their progress around the estate.

'Greensleeves' and 'Pastime with good company' are reputed to have been composed by Henry VIII himself. Some modern scholars are not convinced, but understandably no-one voiced any doubts at the time. In any case he seemed to take delight in hearing such moving renditions of his work as he mingled with the Longleat crowds. Great fun and a great atmosphere - a wonderful Jubilee celebration.
